Jewish mega-philanthropist Sheldon Adelson hosted a private $10,000 a head fundraiser last night at the New York City residence of hedge fund mogul Jason Ader The Algemeiner has learned.
Adelson held court at the super exclusive event speaking for more than an hour to a group of about 35 attendees who gathered in support of one of his favorite charities, Birthright Israel, which takes young Jews on free trips to Israel.
The casino mogul who lovingly held hands with his wife Miriam for the duration of the talk, spoke about Jewish identity. “They have always wanted to kill us,” he said according to our source, “the Crusaders, the Nazis and now the Iranians.”
“When the whole world wants to kill the Jews, why do we help them by killing ourselves and intermarrying and assimilating?” he asked.
He also lashed out at President Franklin Roosevelt saying that the wartime leader did nothing to help Europe’s Jews during the Holocaust.
Eccentric pharmaceuticals billionaire Stewart Rahr, surprised the group with a cool $120,000 pledge to cover the cost of a full bus of Birthright participants.
Other attendees included A. Lorne Weil, Chairman of Scientific Games Corporation and public relations guru Ronn Torossian.
