Fake Video of Orthodox Jew Hit by Speeding Taxi Goes Viral in Arab World (VIDEO)
by Shiryn Ghermezian
Digitally created footage of an Orthodox Jew being hit by a speeding taxi has been viewed over 1.5 million times after it was posted by the Al Quds newspaper’s website, the video’s creator said last Sunday in a Facebook post.
The 5-second video shows the man making his way across a busy road in the direction of the camera. As he nears the other side, a speeding yellow taxi knocks him off his feet and disappears off the screen.
Israeli Yossi Shahar said he created the clip six months ago using Adobe After Effects and posted it online as an example of how the program can be used. Shahar said Al Quds did not inform readers that the events in the video did not actually happen and gave him no credit for creating the clip.
The news channel also posted the video on its Facebook page and claimed the casualty in the video was a “settler.”
